The Margaret River Readers & Writers Festival is calling for emerging and established artists to enter its Visual Stories Art Competition.
Each year, the Visual Stories Art Competition & Exhibition forms an exciting part of the Margaret River Readers & Writers Festival, with works displayed before and throughout the event adding a unique perspective on the festival theme for all to enjoy.
The theme for the 2017 Margaret River Readers & Writers Festival is ‘Where stories come alive’. Festival Director Tanya Perdue encouraged the community to get involved. “This is a fabulous chance for both emerging and established artists to participate in this year’s Readers & Writers Festival,” she said. “Entrants are asked to create an artwork that shows stories coming to life, or an interpretation on where, or how, stories come alive for them. We are hoping to get a broad range of entries across many mediums and can’t wait to see what the community’s creatives have in store for us this year.”
With $2,000 worth of prizes including first, second, third and people’s choice, people can enter for the chance to win, for the fun of being involved and for the chance to have their artworks on display while some of the country’s top writers are in town.
Entries to the Visual Stories Art Competition & Exhibition are open until 21 April. Works will be displayed from 12 May – 04 June and the winners will be announced at the Festival Launch event on Friday 02 June.
An entry fee of $20 applies. The Entry Form and full conditions of entry can be downloaded at www.staging-artsmargaretriverms.kinsta.cloud, www.mrrwfestival.com or collected in person from the Margaret River Cultural Centre, 51 Wallcliffe Road, Margaret River.
