Matt Alt is an American-born, Tokyo-based translator and writer. His reporting has been featured in Aeon Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and The New Yorker, among many others. A longtime “localizer” of video games and translator of manga, including Dorohedoro and Doraemon, his literary translations include Zero Over Berlin(Joh Sasaki) and Japandemonium Illustrated (Toriyama Sekien). He is the co-author of Yokai Attack! The Japanese Monster Survival Guide and its two sequels. His most recent book is Pure Invention: How Japan Made the Modern World.
