Family heirlooms, souvenirs and other objects with sentimental significance can act as powerful prompts for writing. In this practical workshop, author and creative writing teacher Dr Gemma Nisbet will offer inspiration and guidance for writing with objects, drawing on her experience of writing The Things We Live With. In this workshop she’ll cover techniques and approaches adaptable to various genres, with a focus on memoir, autobiography, biography, personal essay, and other forms of life writing. Please bring along 1–3 significant objects of your own to use as prompts or a photo of the object if that’s more practical.
