Flash fiction is an increasingly popular short form of creative writing. Stories under 1,000 words challenge writers to be bold with narrative technique and break boundaries. Speculative fiction – encompassing science fiction, fantasy, horror and dystopian themes –consistently appears on bestseller lists. This workshop will introduce participants to both genres, provide them with techniques and tips for writing effective spec flash fiction and give attendees the opportunity to write their own stories from inspired prompts. No previous experience writing in either genre is required – just come along, be curious and have fun!
