Visual Stories 2019


CURIOUS CREATIONS

Artists were asked to respond to the festival theme ‘wild, weird and wonderful’ with a 3D artwork in the form of a ‘curious creation’. Works were exhibited at the 2019 festival site in the Voyager Estate gardens. Judged by Joanne Paris from JahRoc Galleries, the winners were:

  • 1st Place: Lorraine Frost – Maquettes for an unknown landscape
  • 2nd Place: Robyn Collins – Stingers
  • 3rd Place: Mieke Boerema – Motion Of Time
  • Highly Commended: Tamara Aurora – Quantum Evolution
  • People’s Choice: Tona Holcroft – Gum Nut Baby

STORY POLES

Artists were asked to respond to the festival ‘Stories that shape us’ with a 3D artwork in the form of a ‘Story Pole’. Works were exhibited at the 2018 festival site in Voyager Estate gardens. Judged by Sandy Tippett from Studio Bistro Gallery, the winners were:

  • 1st Place: Rika Rouw – ‘They came to Margs’
  • 2nd – Kashmir Rouw – ‘Jarrah Totemic Head’
  • 3rd – Ken and Robyn Collins – ‘Encased’
  • Highly Commended – Kerry Sibly – ‘Karrak Ter Building’
  • Highly Commended – Kashmir Rouw – ‘Spirit in the Wood’
