Julie Janson

Julie Janson, a NSW Burruberongal woman of the Darug Nation, is a novelist, playwright and poet. Her first novel, Benevolence (Magabala Books, 2020), was nominated for the NIB Literary Award 2020, Voss Literary Award 2020 and Barbara Jefferis Award 2022. She is co-recipient of the Oodgeroo Noonuccal Poetry Prize 2016 and the winner of the Judith Wright Poetry Prize 2019. Her second novel is Madukka the River Serpent (UWAP, 2022) and her third, Compassion, will be published in 2024 by Magabala Books.
