Jesse Oliver

Jesse is an educator, writer and spoken word artist who wields his poetry like an end of times sign. In 2017, he competed in the Australian Poetry Slam at the Sydney Opera House and was crowned Champion.

In 2018, Jesse toured nationally appearing at TedxPerth, the Byron Bay Writers Festival, the Emerging Writers festival, and the National Young Writers Festival, where he returns this year in his role as Co-Director.

He has also performed internationally with the Ubud Readers and Writers Festival, the Singapore Writers Festival and the Hong Kong International Literary Festival. His 2018 rap/poetry theatre show, Star-Crossed Poetry, sold out across its FRINGEWORLD season.

Jesse writes for a revolution of love and understanding. He delivers a sincere and conversational style teamed with relatable and timely content. Jesse’s work finds a way to highlight the strength in vulnerability, exploring his lived experiences of homelessness, gender transition and mental illness.
